Well today I did my first 50 mile ride. I am half way to my goal of 100 miles in a day. It was a beautiful day in the mid 60's We rode by many farms and orchards. I got to see many of the areas where they grow starter trees and shrubs that are distributed all over the country. One of the highlights was riding by many fields where they grow hops for beer! They grow them on 20 foot high poles with cables strung between them. I remember moving across the country and arriving in the NW. I saw these tall plants and had no idea what the were. Now I know these help make some of the best beer in the country. I also got to take a ferry ride across the Willamette River! I recall growing up in St. Louis seeing where Lewis and Clark started their amazing trip. Now I get to see where they finished it. The picture is of the ferry ride across the Willamette! Next week I will be carrying a real camera. The iPhone is not getting the results I want. I hope to have better pictures next week.
